October Newsletter

OCTOBER Where did September go! We have had such a busy and fun first month of school. We are doing a great job at being respectful, being kind and being responsible. We are working on sharing with our friends and pushing in our chairs all the time so we keep our classroom safe! In Language, we have been reading lots of books and making lots of connections. We will be learning how to visualize soon (ex. I will read a book and they will have to imagine in their head what I am reading about). We have started our daily 5 centres: word work, listen to reading, work on writing, read to self and read to someone. These centres will allow your child to practice high-frequency words and build stamina and independence when reading. Please have your child read for 10-15 minutes a night. Welcome back Grade 1/2‘s! Dear students, parents, and guardians, Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year! I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year and watch them grow spiritually, emotionally and academically. In September, we are learning how to be a classroom community/family. The learning skills we are focusing on right now are organization and independent work. We have a fabulous group of students in our class and we have a two Educational Assistants, Mrs. C in the morning and Ms. Nicole in the afternoon. Mme. Leman teaches them French (block 4 everyday). We have library every Tuesday and Physical Education every Monday and Thursday! In September, we will be reading a number of books that allow the children to make connections (text-to-self, text-to-text, text-to-world and text-to-media).
